To our closest ones,
We are overjoyed to share our love story with you, a journey that has been peppered with so much grace. We are so excited for you to be part of our next chapter as we prepare a celebration of our union.
Our story began in the summer of 2019 in a bustling restaurant in Vancouver, BC. Tosin was working her way through school, and Jacob was a sous chef—her boss at the time. Amid the clatter of dishes and the hum of the kitchen, there was nearly a year of subtle flirtation between us. It was a slow and steady start, a quiet dance of mutual interest that neither of us rushed.
When Covid-19 turned the world upside down, and Tosin left the job, Jacob seized the moment and made his move. Our first date on a serene Vancouver beach in early 2020 was magical, setting the stage for what was to come. We spoke for eight months, with Jacob persistently pursuing Tosin, asking her to be his girlfriend four times before she finally agreed. Even when Tosin moved to Cambridge, MA, for grad school, Jacob's dedication never wavered. Three months into officially dating, Jacob moved to Boston, certain that Tosin was the one. For the next three years, he was her rock, supporting her through the challenges of grad school. His unwavering love and steadfast support were a testament to the strength of our bond.
In early February 2024, after months of hints and playful begging, Jacob proposed soon after Tosin defended her Master's thesis. He had waited patiently, ensuring her focus remained on her studies. Just two months later, on April 1st, 2024, we eloped at Boston City Hall. It was a simple yet profound ceremony, surrounded by a few close friends who had been part of our journey.
Our decision to elope was driven by our faith and desired culture as a new family. We chose a private moment to honour our love and commitment, knowing that our dream celebration with all of you would come later. As we look forward to our symbolic ceremony in Italy in September 2025, we eagerly anticipate celebrating our growth, community, and joy with everyone we love.
xx-- Tosin & Jacob
P.S. Our wedding mark is an abstracted ampersand (&), the symbol for "and per se and" in Latin. This translates to "intrinsically joint" in English.
